The children entered the area through a “known trail,” on Sunday, June 9, officials noted, but “ quickly became disoriented and wandered off the trail,” prompting a search.
Investigating officials were able to track the phone that one of the children called from in order to direct crews at the scene toward them. They were found shortly thereafter after a local resident heard them shouting for help.
Fire crews were able to reach the children, who were escorted out of the area. The two were treated by a waiting paramedic as a precaution.
